You may have started to see articles flying around the web about the singularity over the last year or so, if you have seen films such as Transcendence you may understand a little bit about what the singularity is. What you probably won't know is that the singularity, although still classed as fiction by many people, is actually very possible to become a reality, and almost a certainty I actually have no doubt it will happen.

In 2013 Steve Aoki and Ray Kurzweil made a tune that explains a little bit about the singularity (See video below). I am sharing this song with you guys now mainly as I only found out about it a few weeks ago and I thought it was a perfect way to introduce the singularity to those of you who don't know what it is.

Ray Kurzweil is a well known writer from America, he is also a computer scientist and futurist and is very pro singularity. Kurzweil is involved in many areas of technology and In 2001 he won the Lemelson-MIT Prize for invention and innovation and was awarded $500,000 for his contributions towards technology. Amongst other honors he received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, and was added to the National Inventors Hall of Fame, in short if he is certain of something related to tech, he is more than likely correct.

Ray and Steve teamed up to create this video, up until recently I wasn't aware of how deeply Steve believes in the singularity and it was nice to find out just how much work he is putting in to help people become aware of the singularity. Through the video Ray Kurzweil was able to get his message out to millions of people who probably would never even know he existed.

So what is the singularity? The singularity is, in my eyes and many others, an inevitable event that will happen in the not too distant future. Technology, in particular Artificial Intelligence, will merge with biology creating a new super race, the evolution of humanity. Ray Kurzweil opens up the video named “My Name is Kay – Singularity” with a very good intro to just what the singularity is, here are his words:

“I wanna tell you about our future, I estimate around 2025, that we will have expanded our intelligence a billion fold by merging with the Artificial Intelligence we are creating. ”

“But that's such a profound expansion that we borrow this metaphor from physics and call it a singularity.”

“We'll be a hybrid of biological and non-biological intelligence," he says. "But the non-biological part of ourselves will also be part of our consciousness.”

So there you have it, simple explanation of the Singularity in a few sentences from one of the greatest scientists of our time. If you research into the Singularity, you will start to find that we are already on our way to merging our selves with technology. Ray thinks it will be in the next 30 years, but I have a feeling it will be a lot sooner than that, maybe 15 – 20.

For those of you that are interested in the Singularity and Transhumanism, there are already ways out there that enable you to begin the process towards the Singularity. One example of this is a company called Dangerous Things that provide a selection of Biohacking technologies including the xNTi [xNT Tag + Injection Kit]  which is an implant that allows you to connect to NFC devices through your hand. I will be giving you guys a full break down of the installation process and demonstrating the capabilities and potentials of this type of technology. I have been in touch recently with the owner of Dangerous Things and will be writing some additional related articles in the future to go into a bit more detail on what his plans are with the company and technology.

For now I think you may have enough information to dwell on, so I will leave you with the video by Steve Aoki and Ray Kurzweil below. One thing I will say is now you have learnt a little bit about the Singularity, do some research and look into it, as one day in the near future, we will be living it.
